Bhubaneshwar is connected by Air, Rail and Bus. Most any southbound train departing from Kolkatta stops in Bhubaneshwar. Most domestic airlines connect from all the major India hubs. Private buses run from Kolkatta every hour making it relatively easy to get to.
Bhubaneshwar and Puri place a large emphasis on a vegetarian diet and some excellent veg dishes can be found. More rural type fare and open-fire prepared food will be served around Dhabaleswar & Kantilo. Typically, Orya food is quite spicy and prepared with significantly less oil used in cooking than other parts of India.

Day 1: Arrive BhubaneshwarUpon arrival you will transfer to your hotel. Later enjoy the sights of Bhubaneshwar. Aptly referred to as the City of Temples due to the presence of more than 7000 of them, you'll have no shortage of things to do. Some temples date back to the 7th century. See a comprehensive list in "Things to Do in Bhubaneshwar". Day 2: Bhubaneshwar to Puri (120 km / 2 hour drive)On the drive to Puri enjoy stops along the way at Yogini Temple in Heerapur, Pippli Aplique work village, and the, Dhauli Peace Pagoda. Continue on to Puri, an important Pilgrimage Center of India which boasts the largest kitchen in the world serving over 100,000 devotees daily. Check-in to your hotel where you'll spend the next two nights. Day 3: PuriEnjoy a trip to Pippli Aplique work village and the famous Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site - built in the a form of Chariot in the 13 century. Later, tour Puri - Jagannath Temple, Potters Village, Grand Road, Fishing Colony. Enjoy a meeting with local painters and learn how to mix organic colors. In the evening, be sure to visit the beach to check out the sand sculptures. Sand art in Puri has achieved global recognition and it's not unusual to see sand artists at work on the beach during evenings. Day 4: Puri to Dhabaleswar (145 km / 3 hour drive)After morning check-out, take the drive to Dhabaleswar. Meet the skilled weavers who produce the famed Bandh design. Stroll around the village and see how the craft is woven seamlessly into daily life and pay a visit to the weaver’s co-operative society. Visit the Dhabaleswar Temple in the evening to watch the daily majestic rituals. Spend the night on an island in the middle of the River Mahanadi. Day 5: Dhabaleswar to Bhubaneshwar via Kantilo (225 km / 5 hour drive)Enjoy the scenic drive to Kantilo as you pass through some of the most picturesque countryside in Orissa, much of it which parallels the path of the Mahanadi River. In Kantilo, wander the medieval streets where silversmiths and goldsmiths make their homes. Climb to the hilltop temple and ring the ancient bell. Watch the sunset overlooking surrounding hamlets. Finish the day driving to Bhubaneshwar where you'll spend the next two nights. Day 6: BhubaneshwarIn Bhubaneshwar, tour brass work artisans and watch the making of ritual bells along with vessels and utensils. Visit the local weaver co-op and stroll through the market dedicated to local handicrafts. Day 7: BhubaneshwarTransfer to your departure point in Bhubaneshwar.
