End the tour in the Mysore - the cultural capital of Karnataka - a city rich in heritage with its Royal Palace, sacred temples and majestic monuments.

Bangalore – Chikmagular – Coorg – Mysore – Bangalore

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Bangalore Arrival

You will be met in Cochin by a Tour Packages India Representative and escorted you to your hotel for check-in. The Garden City of Bangalore - the only planned city in India - is a beautiful city to spend time in with it's tree-lined streets, abundance of gardens, and a great mix of old and new architecture. Spend the evening as you like

Day 2: Bangalore to Chikmagular (250 km / 6 hour drive)

En route to Chikmagular, stop off at Belur and Halebid, home to more exquisitely carved temples from the 12th and 13th centuries. Belur is famous for its Hoysala architecture - the Temple of Lord Channakeshava is embellished with carvings that have few equals in the world. The front of the temple is adorned with intricate sculptures, friezes with elephants, sensuous dancers and episodes from the epics.

Day 3: Chikmagular

The Chimagular region is known as "Coffee Land" - Coffee Day has its headquarters here. Today, enjoy a tour of a local coffee plantation. Guides are available to explain the coffee processing procedures. Stroll the grounds and enjoy peace and quiet...and coffee-scented air! Optionally, visit Mullayanagiri Peak (16 km) in the Baba Budan Hills - at 1,930 meters above sea level it's the highest peak in Karnataka. Mullayanagiri offers some great trekking and spectacular sunset views.

Day 4: Chikmagular to Coorg (85 km / 2 hour drive)

Drive over to Coorg (Madikeri), the most famous of coffee regions in India spearheaded by the Tata Coffee company. Also known as "the Scotland of India", Coorg offers great scenery in a cool climate completely surrounded by coffee, pepper, and cardamom plantations which is quite evident with every breath you take. Again, enjoy another coffee plantation tour or take a ride to the Dubare Elephant Camp for a fun day with the local tuskers.

Day 5: Coorg

Wake up to the smells of fresh roasted coffee. Spend the day exploring the area - while Coorg is famous for it's coffee, it's really the outdoor activities that draw the tourists - trekking, rock climbing, rafting, boating and bicycling. Spend the evening shopping for fresh coffee, spices and Coorg's famous honey.

Day 6: Coorg to Mysore (120 km / 3 hour drive)

A morning jeep ride around Anaerangal Lake leads to the starting point of the day's trek - near Thondimalla. Trek through the cool forests of the Cardamom Hills through cardamom, pepper and coffee plantations. Expect to share the way with elephants! Reach Santhan Para by evening. Enjoy a campfire meal before settling into your tent for the night.

Day 7: Mysore

Take the drive down to Mysore and spend the day exploring the city. A tour of the city "don't miss" is St. Philomena's Church - one of the largest cathedrals in India and constructed in medieval architectural style. Also, Jaganmohan Palace - another favorite - was converted into an art gallery in 1875 and exhibits paintings which date back to that period. The artists of that time used natural vegetable and mineral dyes and the famous traditional Mysore 'gold leaf ' paintings are also exhibited in the gallery. Take a trip up Chamundi Hill to view the grande monolithic bull statue, Nandi, as well as the 2,000 year old Chamundi Hill Temple. A 7-story, 40 meter high tower dominates the temple and offers panoramic views of the city. Spend the night.

Day 8: Mysore to Bangalore Departure (140 km / 3 hour drive)

Transfer to Bangalore to your point of departure.
