TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
You will be greeted at the airport by a Tour Packages India Representative and escorted to your hotel where you'll spend the next two nights.
Day 2: Delhi
Embark on a day of sightseeing. Delhi is said to be one of the oldest existing cities in the world - over 5,000 years - along with Damascus and Varanasi. Delhi is by far the most cosmopolitan city in India and a true traveller's delight. The list of things to do in Delhi is endless and you'll surely discover many interesting things to do on your own. Here's an abbreviated list of some of the most popular tourist activities:
Eat Dilli-ki-Chaat, visit the Red Fort, one of the most popular attractons is the Lotus Temple (Bahai House of Worship), constructed out of marble and in the shape of a lotus flower, stroll around Humayun’s Tomb which combines Persian style with local craftsmanship, listen to Qawwalis (devotional music) sung at dargah of Nizamuddin Auliya (one of Islam’s holiest tombs) at around sunset, and visit Gandhi’s simple tomb in its tranquil gardens – said to be the most peaceful place in all Delhi.
Day 3: Delhi to Varanasi (via Flight)
After breakfast, you'll be escorted back to the airport for the short flight to Varanasi where another Tour Packages India Representative will meet and escort you to your hotel where you'll spend the next two nights. Spend the evening as you wish. Evenings are a nice time to take a boat ride on the Ganges.
Day 4: Varanasi
Board an early morning boat at the riverbanks for a cruise on the Ganges River. The western banks have a string of ghats which the pilgrims occupy during their stay. At dawn, the ghats are abuzz with activity as devotees offer prayers to the rising sun and perform religious rituals. Return to hotel for breakfast. Later visit the Bharat Mata Temple which has on display a giant bas relief map of India in marble. Take a drive through the largest residential university of Asia - Banaras Hindu University. Founded by Pundit Madan Mohan Malviya, the university houses an Art Gallery as well as the Mosque of Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb. Stop over at the Bharat Kala Bhavan where you can see some of the finest miniatures on display in India. In the afternoon, tour the Sarnath, the buried Buddhist city where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. Sarnath was a renowned school of learning from 6th century B.C. to 12th century A.D.
Day 5: Varanasi to Khajuraho (via Flight)
After breakfast, board a flight to Khajuraho where, again, you'll be greeted by our Representative and escorted to your hotel.. The Jain temples of Khajuraho are known for the erotic content of the carvings as well as for their intricacy. The central complex which borders the edge of town occupies beautiful gardens and a peaceful atmosphere. Stroll, relax, gaze in awe at these inspring and unforgettable examples of Jain architecture from the 9th century.
Day 6: Khajuraho to Agra (220 km / 5 hour drive)
Enjoy the scenic drive to Agra where you'll spend the next two nights. Spend the evening in Agra as you wish. If time permits, early evening is the best time to view the Taj.
Day 7: Agra
Most travellers start their day at the Taj Mahal - sometimes traveling by Horse Cart to the entrance. The rising sun reflecting on the Taj during the coolest period of the day makes it a favorite time to visit. It opens at 6:00 a.m. so breakfast usually takes place after your visit. Later, visit the Agra Fort. Agra served as a home to the Mughal Dynasty and next to architecture their influence had the greatest effect on the cuisine. Don't miss out on authentic Mughali dishes - famous the world over for a very good reason
Day 8: Agra to Jaipur (232 km / 6 hour drive)
Pay a visit to the Taj before departure. Later, enjoy the afternoon drive to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri and then on to the Pink City - Jaipur - where you'll spend the next two nights.
Day 9: Jaipur
Jaipur has many points of interest including the Amber Fort, City Palace, Jai Mahal Lake Palace, Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), Jantar Mantar, Monkey Temple,
Elephant Rides, Tiger Fort, The Entrance of City Walls just to mention a few.
Day 10: Jaipur to Udaipur (via Flight)
Take the short flight to Udaipur and check-in to your hotel where you'll spend the next two nights. Treat yourself to a stroll about Udaipur City Palace - one of the most beautiful palatial structures, this elegant palace was originally built entirely out of granite and marble and rises 30 meters above Lake Pichola. Inside smaller palaces, museums and gardens are to be found. The interiors are adorned with balconies, towers and cupolas exhibiting delicate mirror and marble work, murals, wall paintings, silver and inlay work of leftover colored glass. The complex provides a fine view of the lake and the Udaipur city from its upper terraces.
Day 11: Udaipur
Embark on a full day of sightseeing - don't miss Udaipur City Palace - an entire day could easily be spent in this one place. Other points of interest include Fateh Sagar Lake, Pichola Lake - now home to the famous Lake Palace Hotel located in the middle of the lake, Saheliyon ki Badi - Garden of the Maids - this garden has fountains and kiosks, a lotus pool and marble elephants. Take the Ropeway - spend the evening overlooking the city lights from the high altitude and enjoy dinner with a view at the top.
Day 12: Udaipur to Delhi (via Flight)
Take the short flight back to Delhi where you'll be driven to your point of departure.
