Sandy beaches, backwater houseboats, hill station plantations, wildlife sanctuaries, scenic drives from the harbor town of Cochin through the Cardamom Hills - a great taste of Kerala .

Itinerary Route:   Cochin – Munnar – Periyar – Kumarakom – Alleppey Backwaters - Kovalam – Trivandrum

Day 1 : Cochin Arrival

You will be met in Cochin by a Tour Packages India Representative who will escort you to your hotel. Spend the day seeing the sights which may include a visit to the Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica or a boat tour of the harbor islands. See "Local Attractions" for a comprehensive list of things to do. In the evening enjoy a Kathakali dance show after dinner.

Day 2 : Cochin to Munnar (4 Hour Drive)

After breakfast, you'll be driven through the Cardamom Hills to Munnar - famous for rolling hillsides of tea plantations. Dinner and overnight in Munnar.

Day 3 : Munnar

Spend the day sightseeing - trek up into the clouds, go rock climbing and rappeling, go on an elephant safari - see "Local Attractions" for more things to do in Munnar.

Day 4 : Munnar to Periyar (3 Hour Drive)

Take another wonderfully scenic drive through the hilly countryside en route to Periyar. Visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Tiger Reserve. Spend the evening exploring nearby Kumily where every spice grown in Kerala is sold - you'll know you've arrived by the aromatic atmosphere.

Day 5: Periyar to Kumarakom on the Backwaters (4 Hour Drive)

Descend to the backwaters of Kumarkom - the Rice Bowl of Kerala. Kumarkom rests along the shores of Lake Vembanad, the largest freshwater lake in Kerala. Abundant in fish and fowl, coconut and palm groves and rice paddies, it's a virtual feast for the eyes. Relax and take it all in under nature's canopy.

Day 6 : Kumarakom to Alleppey Houseboat (2 Hour Drive)

Take a ride through the backwater region to Alleppey where you'll board your private houseboat for the night accompanied by the navigator and your own personal cook. For more details, visit "The Houseboat Experience"

Day 7 : Alleppey to Kovalam Beach (4 Hour Drive)

Continue your travels down the coast to the world famous beach resort town of Kovalam. Long an international draw, you'll find it a fascinating and enjoyable way to wind up this tour.

Day 8: Kovalam

A day of leisure, a night of pleasure...stroll the boardwalk, explore the lagoons hidden behind the beachfront shops, hang out on the beach watching the fishermen bring in their fresh catch, relax at a rooftop restaurant and watch the sunset...a nice finishing touch to your week in the wonderland of Kerala.

Day 9: Kovalam to Trivandrum Departure

Depart for Trivandrum to continue your onward travels.
