Hospitality reigns supreme - Darjeeling and Sikkim are world famous for their friendly service. Room in the mountains with panoramic views...you won't be disappointed with whatever choice you make.
Best Time: Sikkim experiences rainfall throughout most of the year. But from late March (as it warms up) through the beginning of May enjoys the most sunshine as well as October/November. Monsoons typically create mudslides and road closings so they're probably best avoided. March thru June (Spring/Summer)
Hotel cuisine in Darjeeling and Gangtok is often quite varied and wonderfully prepared...but don't miss out on the Momo Shacks up in the mountains. Kolkatta offers just about every thing imaginable but their local chaat specialities should not be missed.
The scenery is the greatest attraction...riding in a jeep up the mountain to Darjeeling, tea gardens lining the mountainsides, snow-capped mountains in the distance, mountain lakes, rivers and waterfalls, mountainside monasteries, fields of flowers, wildlife... amazement at every turn..
