Kolkatta (Calcutta) is one of the easiest India hubs to reach - via Air, Rail, or Bus...anything and everyone eventually goes to Kolkatta. Book a train from most anywhere, fly in domestically or internationally, take the roadway and enjoy the scenery.
This exciting food part of the tour begins in Kolkatta - home to chaats and meat snacks and delicacies. Bhubaneshwar and Puri place a large emphasis on a vegetarian diet and some excellent veg dishes can be found. More rural type tribal fare will be served throughout Rayagada, Jeypore, and Lamtaput. Orya food is typically quite spicy and prepared with significantly less oil used in cooking than other parts of India. It's a tour for the taste buds to savor.
Local festivals, ancient Buddhist ruins, beaches galore, dolphin spotting, birdwatching, tribal maketplaces, rare crocodiles, maritime museums...plenty to peak your interests on this odyssey through Orissa.
