TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Bangalore Arrival

A Tour Packages India Representative will meet you upon arrival and escort you to your hotel in The Garden City of Bangalore - the only planned city in India as well as one of the most modern and fastest growing cities in India. It's a beautiful city to spend time in with it's tree-lined streets, abundance of gardens, and a great mix of old and new architecture. Spend the evening as you like.

Day 2: Bangalore to Mysore (3 hour drive)

Mysore has always enchanted with its quaint charm, rich heritage, magnificent palaces, beautifully laid-out gardens, imposing buildings, broad shady avenues and sacred temples. There's an old world charm about the city that brings tourists back time after time. Make Mysore Palace your first stop. Another "don't miss" is St. Philomena's Church - one of the largest cathedrals in India and constructed in medieval architectural style. Take a trip up Chamundi Hill to view the grande monolithic bull statue, Nandi, as well as the 2,000 year old Chamundi Hill Temple. A 7-story, 40 meter high tower dominates the temple and offers panoramic views of the city.

Day 3: Mysore to Kabini (2 hour drive)

Drive to Kabini, one of India's most popular wildlife destinations - on the fringes of the Nagarhole National Park where you'll enjoy a jeep wildlife safari. In the evening you'll be treated to a showing of a wildlife movie at the Viceroy's Building.

Day 4: Kabini

Enjoy jungle activities like jeep safaris and backwater boat rides through the wildlife sanctuary surrounded by jungle landscape, a large picturesque lake, herds of elephants, and the sounds of nature. Explore at your leisure. Spend the night.

Day 5: Kabini to Wayanad (3.5 hour drive)

Ascend to 2,.000 meters into the cool hills of Wayanad. The scenic rides takes you through tropical rain forests, dense hills, rolling paddy fields, spice and tea plantations, and through unforgettable vistas. Spend the night.

Day 6: Wayanad

Start off the day at the Edakkal Caves - two natural caves (alt. 1,200m) on Ambukutty Mala. The caves have pictorial writings dating back to 5,000 BC (Neolithic period) indicating the presence of a prehistoric civilization. These Stone Age carvings are the only known example from South India. Later, visit the Jain Temple (Tippu's Fort) - built in the 13th century, it served as a sacred Hindu shrine and eventually as a Battery. Later, stop in at the Heritage Museum, home to an interesting collection of artifacts from the Wayanad region. En route to the hotel, visit the Chain Tree, a spot immersed in local legend.

Day 7: Wayanad to Mudumalai (2.5 hour drive)

Drive up to the Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (also declared a Tiger Reserve). Although a haven for Bengal Tigers and Indian Leopards, sightings are considered quite rare. However, the park is home to diverse wildlife and offers some great side trips for opportunities to spot the park denizens - take an elephant safari, hang out on the banks of the Moyar River where animals come to drink, follow the Moyar River to Moyar Falls where it plunges into a giant gorge, bring your binoculars to spot some rare vultures and birds. Spend the night at the edge of the Park.

Day 8: Mudumalai

Spend a day of leisure in the hills of Mudumalai. Opt for a trek or explore on your own. Visit an Elephant Camp in the evening and then go for a Jeep Safari. Spend the night.

Day 9: Mudumalai to Ooty - Ooty to Coonoor via Toy Train

En route to Coonnor, stop off at Ooty (Udagamandalam) - commonly referred to as the "Queen of the Blue Mountains". Located at an altitude of 2,286 meters, Ooty was the first established hill station (early 19th century) in India as the summer capital of the British Raj Madras Gov't. Popular tourist attractions include the Botanical Gardens, Lake, Doddabetta, Mukurti Peak, the Pykara Dam, and sprawling tea plantations. In the afternoon, board the steam Toy Train for the trip from Ooty to Coonoor which offers spectacular views of the precipitous eastern slopes of the Nilgiri Hills.

Day 10: Coonoor to Cochin (6 hour drive)

Enjoy the scenic drive down the Niligiri Hills to the heritage town of Fort Cochin. Kerala's only metropolis, Cochin is a fun place to explore - from the markets to the harbor islands you'll find plenty to keep you interested, entertained and occupied. Spend the evening as you wish.

Day 11: Cochin

Spend the day seeing the sights which may include a visit to the Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica or a boat tour of the harbor islands. In the evening enjoy a Kathakali dance show on the harborfront overlooking the Chinese Fishing Nets.

Day 12: Cochin Departure
